Acumen HSC (“Acumen”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how it is handled.

1. What We Collect

When you enquire, we collect your name, email address, phone number, year group and any message you include.

With an Acumen + account, we hold your email address, your password in protected form and your answers to practice questions.

Card details are entered into a form provided by Stripe and never reach us. We keep a record of your payments and of whether a free trial has been used.

We also collect standard technical information needed to run and secure this website.

2. Why We Collect It

We use your information to respond to your enquiry, provide tutoring and Acumen +, take payment, send invoices and service communications, and meet our legal obligations.

We do not use it for any purpose unrelated to Acumen HSC.

3. Who We Share It With

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We share it with the tutor who teaches your child, and with the providers we use to run this website, keep our records, send email, take card payments and advertise, including Stripe, Google, Meta and Microsoft. Some of them process information outside Australia.

4. Data Retention

We keep enquiry and account records while the relationship is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for administrative and legal purposes.

When an Acumen + account is closed, your practice answers are kept in case you return. You may ask us to delete your data at any time.

5. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate information, and request that we delete your information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

6. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. All data is transmitted over HTTPS and access to our systems is restricted to authorised personnel only.

7. Cookies

We use tools from Google, Meta and Microsoft to measure our advertising and see how this website is used. They set cookies or use similar browser signals, and may use what they receive for their own advertising. We do not use them to collect the messages you send us.

You can control this in your Facebook, Instagram and Google ad settings, or opt out at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.

Signing in to Acumen + sets a cookie that keeps you signed in, and the payment form sets cookies Stripe uses to prevent fraud.
